Submissions

CURRENT BELMONT STUDENTS ONLY

All submissions must be sent to belmontlitjournal@gmail.com with your full name, BUID, and genre of submission in the Subject heading of the email (i.e. Jill Smith, B00123456, Poetry).

EXTENDED DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 11TH, 2025

In the body of the email please include your contact information (name, email address, and phone number).

All submissions (except visual art) must be attached as either a Word document (.doc or .docx) or .rtf.

YOUR NAME SHOULD NOT APPEAR ANYWHERE IN YOUR ATTACHED DOCUMENT.

Please read individual genre guidelines below. Submissions that do not follow these guidelines will not be considered.

POETRY

Poems must be 12-point font (Times or equivalent). Submit up to five poems maximum. Please bold each poem’s title and send all poems in one document (.doc, .docx, .rtf).

FICTION

Fiction must be double-spaced, 12-point font (Times or equivalent). Submit up to two short stories (no longer than 5,000 words each) and/or up to four pieces of flash fiction (no longer than 1,000 words each). Excerpts from novels and novellas are acceptable if able to stand alone. This year, we're also accepting fiction new-media pieces, which include works with visual, audio, or interactive components. Please bold each story’s title and send all pieces in one document (.doc, .docx, .rtf).

CREATIVE NONFICTION

Creative nonfiction (memoir, lyric essays, meditative essays, personal essays, literary/long-form journalism, etc.) must be double-spaced, 12-point font (Times or equivalent). Submit up to four pieces (no longer than 5,000 words each). This year, we're also accepting creative nonfiction new-media pieces, which include works with visual, audio, or interactive components. Please remove any identifying information (names, etc.) from your work before submitting. Please bold each CNF’s title and send all pieces in one document (.doc, .docx, .rtf).

VISUAL ART

Submit high-quality reproduction, as .pdf or .jpg, of any of the following (though certainly this list is incomplete): paintings, sculptures, photographs, digital art, illustrations, comics, etc. If .pdf or .jpg formats will not work, please contact us for further instruction.
